Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, generating wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.

Massive Ice Stones and Broad Destruction

Residents observed giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Emergency response teams received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
